As an online learner you are studying without the physical attendance of a classroom. You study at home, work or wherever you like, whenever you like, without a set time. You set your own schedule and study at your own pace. As a previous online learner almost a year ago studying a diploma, I have some insight to what it is like to be exposed to that kind of environment as I have studied before, it takes motivation and the eager determination to learn. If you prefer to study at your own pace where ever it may be or you want to balance home, work and study life then studying as an online learner is for you. What is like to be an online learner? As an online learner, aiming to be a professional in the field of teaching I have learned the skills and attributes I need in order to be successful is being motivated to complete assessments and weekly activities. It is when they suffer, when they find life difficult, that they begin to search for a reason and a way out of their difficulty. They may ask, why some are born in poverty and suffering, while others are born in fortunate circumstances? Some people believe that it is due to fate, chance, or an invisible power beyond their control. The Buddha taught that one's present condition, whether of happiness or suffering, is the result of the accumulated force of all past actions, or karma. Karma is intentional action, that is, a deed done deliberately through body, speech or mind. Karma means good and bad volition. Every volitional action is called Karma. In other words, Karma is the law of moral causation. It is action and reaction in the ethical realm. It is natural law that every action produces a certain effect. So if one performs wholesome actions such as donating money to charitable organizations, one will experience happiness. On the other hand, if one performs unwholesome actions, such as killing a living being, one will experience suffering. This is the law of cause and effect at work. In this way, the effect of one's past karma determine the nature of one's present situation in life.
